Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Wise
ESL teacher

I wanted to introduce myself. First of all, my name is Carly Wise and I am Iron Horses's English Language Development (ELD) teacher, which is also know as ESL. I work with kids who are lucky enough to have two or more languages in their life. This may be that they can speak another language or that they listen to it.

This is my 15 year being an educator. This is my second year working at IHE, prior to that I was a 3rd grade teacher. I have also taught 4th and 5th grade. I am enjoying this new role as a ELD teacher because I really get to connect with kids in a different way. I will finish up my schooling in October to have my endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from Regis. I am lucky to also have two young boys that will be in Preschool this year at IHE.

This school year I will be working on increasing English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I am here 2 1/2 days a week and do a combination of pushing into the classroom and pulling out. It depends on the needs of my students and teachers.

Let me know if you need any translating on emails, at conferences, or for the office. Also let me know if you are interested in volunteering but not sure what to do. I'm here to help you as well.

I will be at Iron Horse on Tuesday and Wednesday all day and Friday mornings. Please feel free to reach out to me at Cwise@dcsdk12.org
