Mental Health at Iron Horse Elementary

Welcome to the Iron Horse Elementary mental health team page. We are excited for the school year. At Iron Horse Elementary we value social-emotional support and development for all students. Together we strive to help each child reach his or her full developmental and academic potential.

Annie Basham, M.Ed., LSW

I am thrilled to share that this is my  fourth year at Iron Horse.  I graduated with an MSW from the University of Denver  in 2019,  and came straight to work as your school social worker. Prior to social work I was a classroom teacher for thirteen years and I also hold a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University in addition to a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona.

I have seen so many restorative interventions put into place these past three years, and the best part of my job is watching students grow socially-emotionally. Empowering kids with coping strategies, and various other tools to put in their toolboxes, is what our mental health team aims to achieve with the students at IHE. We feel successful when we witness kids begin to use these  mechanisms in an effort to manage the socialization of their school day. I primarily work with students who have an IEP, however, I am a resource for all students, staff, and parents and connecting with others is what fills my bucket!

I am at Iron Horse every day except Mondays, feel free to reach out to me anytime.

Jennie Iverson, MA, LPC

This is my first year in DCSD and I am excited to be at IHE! I have been in education for 14 years, working in a mental health capacity for the past 7.  I received a Bachelor's in Psychology from Metro University and a Master's in Counseling from Regis University.  I love being a School Counselor and am a Licensed Professional Counselor.

I value working with students to develop their social emotional skills as it pertains to self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Throughout the year I will co-teaching social emotional lessons in the classrooms, support students during times of crisis or need, and help students to fully access learning. I am able to help support students in their classroom environments, small group settings, and one on one time.  I will also help to create a positive school wide environment for all students, staff, and parents.

My hours are M-F, 8-4
