Philosophy

I have been a teacher for over 25 years and my philosophy is for students to develop a love for learning.  I encourage asking questions,  building connections, and encouraging students to think outside the box.  There is never a wrong answer, but how do we get to the right one?  All students should love school!

Mrs. Curoe

Hello!

I am so excited to be teaching at Iron Horse Elementary!  This is my second year at this wonderful school. Previously, I worked in Wisconsin for 14 years and have been in Colorado for the last 16 years.  My teaching has included all grades K-6th but mostly with upper level elementary students. In Wisconsin, I was a gifted and talented teacher along with teaching french to 7th and 8th graders at a K-8 school. In Colorado Springs, I taught for two years at the 3rd grade level and later moved to Douglas County to teach at Northeast Elementary for 7 years (fourth and fifth grade) and CIMS for 8 years. Coaching is also a passion of mine and was fortunate to coach girls' and boys' high school tennis, cross country and track for middle school students at Cimarron MS.

If I have free time, I am reading, running or traveling.  We have been to over 4 continents and I taught in New Zealand and lived in France.  I am a wife and a  mom of two daughters, Genevieve (18 years old and a student at Cherokee Trail HS) and Julia (16 years old and a student at Fox Ridge MS).  We can't forget our dog, Summit who gives us such joy every day.

So happy to be able to teach you wonderful children!
